So the Alternator goes out on my John Deere Gator.
Most gators do not have an external alternator, they have a stator behind the flywheel and a voltage regulator on the frame. The external alternator is a dealer add on kit for folks that use a lot of voltage, lights, wenches, etc.
So I call the dealer to get a new alternator and JUST the alternator is $460.00! So I shop around the net and find the whole add on kit (including the brackets, alternator, belt, wiring harnest etc) for $371.00
Now why is it the whole kit that in has a new alternator and all parts cost a hundred bucks less that JUST the alternator?
