And we haven't had but two hunnerd degree days. And its been raining every week. I saw Gene's post on FB about gnats. We have more dog pecker gnats this summer than you can shake a stick at.
Reckon its the weather? I've only heard like two cicadas so far. Weird.

You guys get those buffalo gnats down there? Showed up here about 20 years ago. They used to last about a week - then three weeks - now it's all freaking summer. Miserable bastards just love me. We had the 17 year variety of cicadas a couple/three weeks ago and the "regulars" are starting to wind down.

We actually do have them at certain times ofthe year but they're not much of a nuisance here. You find them around water and cattle. I have a couple of scars from blackfly bite I got up in the arrowhead area of Minnesota. Our dog pecker gnats form a cloud around your face on a hot sweaty summer day and you'll inhale a half dozen or so on a good day. I can't think of a single memory of squirrel hunting in Arkansas or Oklahoma that doesn't include gnats.
