My son Luke(12) is getting his first trapping lesson this weekend. The college boys we hunt with are taking him out and showing him how to get a few coons. The boys use their trapping money for extra cash. We are hitting the ducks in the morning, then swinging by the traps to check them. they will set a few more and show Luke how to do so. Luke will then run the small line over Christmas break.
These kids are salt of the earth good kids. Great role models for my son.
On a funny note. Luke showed up for basketball practice over Thanksgiving break in full camo and face paint. Coach said it was the first time any kid had done that in 18 yrs of coaching. We were out duck hunting until pract started. Luke ran in, and changed, washed his face off, but of course didn't get it all. We all had a good laugh about his make up running during practice.
We went back out and planned on hunting more after pract, but the ducks were done for the day so we just picked up dekkes. What a hoot!
