These two (age 11 and 13) tested successfully yesterday for the highest degree of Junior Black Belt in Kempo Karate. They are 'stuck' till old enough to test for Adult Black Belt.
Some of the drills were just agility and endurance....one was jumping rope 4 minutes, then 35 setups, then 25 pushups........repeat without stopping 3 more times, four times total. My granddaughter, I think, could jump rope all day effortlessly. She put the instructors to shame. Course, she doesn't have a lot to lift to jump!!! But man.....I couldn't have done any of this at age 13, or 11. So while I'm fat, and most of America's kids are fat, these guys are working their buns off twice a week and are thin, but solid as granite. They can't possibly have an ounce of body fat.
So, no state tourney winners, but winners to me, and great kids to boot.
Meanwhile, I cannot post a picture of their big sister, the 15 year old, because I would imagine Bwana's boys, and maybe Ed's grandsons, and some other boys, would start pounding me into the ground for her cell number. Besides, she's too busy practicing every night for marching band.
So there. Laugh at me for bragging, but hey........I'm proud of them.
