View Full Version : Awesome lunch todat
Had lunch today at Luke in New Orleans, it's one of John Besh's places and it was awesome. Roasted pork shank, bratwurst and pork belly on a bed of spatzle.

Isn't spatzle used to seal cracks?

No dummy ... it's the past participle of "spittle". ;)
spit·tle
/ˈspitl/
Noun
Saliva, esp. as ejected from the mouth.
Synonyms
spit - saliva - sputum - slobber - slaver - gob
I think that's something my dog would enjoy. :beer
There was beer Hoegaarden to be precise, the ice tea was the other guys and no it isn't used to seal cracks. Heathens all of you, it's a soft egg noodle common in southern German cuisine.

What's the deal with shank becoming so popular? The shank used to be strictly for very gristly hamburger.

Kinda like lobster used to be something they only fed to convicts. Heck, I remember when chicken wings weren't worth fooling with!
Not sure why it's so popular but I saw it on the menu and was intrigued. It was on the company dime so I figured I would give it a shot. It was very good, I also ate at NOLA which is one of Emril's places and it was very good.
Hoegarden.... YUM. Had it on draft for the 1st time EVER in RDU airport. Only in bottles before that.
A bowl full of terds? REALLY?
