I read an article today that states our cautions (masks, social distancing, etc) for Covid-19 virtually eliminated our flu season this year.
According to the article, this is what they said about LAST flu season (before Covid)
Last flu season, the CDC estimated the virus was responsible for “38 million illnesses, 18 million medical visits, 405,000 hospitalizations, and 22,000 deaths.”
But THIS flu season was basically a non-issue.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that as of January 30, there have been just 1,316 positive flu cases in its clinical surveillance network since September.
Now, we've debated previously whether hospitals are "fudging" on their Covid numbers because they can rake in bazillions if the patient is diagnosed with the virus, but get squat for a flu diagnosis. I don't know about you, but I see b/s padded into the numbers. Duh! If you offer me $10,000 to treat a Covid patient and $100 to treat a flu patient (made up numbers to make a point) .... what do you think MY diagnosis would be? PLUS ... there's no double-checking by the gov't as to verifying the diagnosis. I'll guarandamntee you, if you come into my office with so much as a sniffle, YOU'RE GONNA HAVE COVID! :slaphead
