This big fella is one of the two poults from The local pair of Cooper's hawks we have nesting in our neighborhood. The other three birds from this year's family migrated about late October and this guy stayed behind. He's fat as he can be and seems to be enjoying himself. He catches frogs and crawdads and stuff in the little creek in my front yard. They also keep the squirrels under nice control since they can get out of hand around here in a hurry. I'm glad he chose to stay the winter. Neither him or my dogs have managed to catch the rabbit that visits the cabbage plants in my garden every night though.
